Dawgs Tied for 13th Heading Into Final Round at Tavistock Collegiate Invitational
October 22, 2018 | Men's Golf
WINDERMERE, Fla. โ Competing at the stacked Tavistock Collegiate Invitational at the prestigious Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Florida, the University of Washington men's golf team had a tougher day during round two as it sits tied for 13th with a 19-over 595 (287-308). The Dawgs fell six spots on the leaderboard but have one final round against seven of the top 25 teams in the country slated for Tuesday.
ย
"It was a tough day at the office for the Dawgs today," said head coach Alan Murray. "Everyone struggled and we didn'tย have anyone that was able to put together a score to really help us. When that happens it is hard to gain ground or even maintain position. I think today is something that we are already aware of in that our bad golf has to be better if we are going to compete with the best teams. We won't get too down about it and will be fresh tomorrow to get back out and try to play a great round. It's always how you can respond to the tough moments that determines how you can grow. We are young and will be resilient with assessing this."
ย
Freshman Paul Margolis was able to climb during Monday's round as he jumped five spots into a tie for 32nd after he carded a 2-over 74 to bring his two-day total to 3-over 147 (73-74). Margolis' steady play featured four birdies mixed in with six bogeys. Margolis didn't falter after an error and he is currently UW's top finisher heading into Tuesday's round.
ย
Sophomore Jan Schneider followed him just two strokes back at 5-over 149 (73-76) which places him tied for 42nd. Schneider's start to the round saw him reach three over after just four holes but he responded with back to back pars and a birdie before a few more errors over his next three. He stayed at four-over for five straight thanks to pars and added a birdie but pulled a bogey on his final hole of the day.
ย
Sophomore Noah Woolsey's second round scorecard of 9-over 81 pushed him to a two-day total of 6-over 150 (69-81) that places him tied for 49th, while junior Henry Lee carded a 7-over 79 to give him a 7-over 151 (72-79) which ties for 55th. Rounding out the UW crew was freshman Padraic Sim who is tied for 61st after going 7-over 79 to push his score to 9-over 153 (74-79).

Tuesday's final round tees off at 6:15 a.m. PT as UW will be paired with Augusta and North Texas.
