Tournament Homepage Doubles Draw Singles Draws

SEATTLE --- The Washington men's tennis team completed the first day of play at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Thursday. The tournament, which is hosted by Washington took place at the Nordstrom Tennis Center as well as the Seattle Tennis Club.

All 11 Huskies competed in the singles bracket with ten players winning their respective first round matches. The Husky doubles pairs of Sommer/Lam as well as Davis/Foley advanced to the doubles Round of 16 which will take place on Friday.

Freshman Kasper Smith took on Matis Bot from St. Mary's with Smith winning in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. Smith will take on Avery West from Portland State in the second round.

Senior Kawika Lam beat Leo Hibi from Portland, coming from behind 1-6, 6-0, 6-4 to earn his way to the second round.

Senior Sebastian Hawken defeated Wout Douman from Eastern Washington in the first round 6-1, 6-4. Hawken will go up against Carlos Donat of Portland in the second round.

Sophomore Jack Davis took down Jackson Hawk from St. Mary's 6-0, 6-1. Davis will face Chethan Swanson from UC Davis in the second round on Friday.

Freshman Adam Torocsik came behind from a one set deficit to defeat Simon Homedes from Gonzaga on Thursday 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Torocsik will go against Andrew Gu from Santa Clara on Friday.

Senior Enzo Sommer beat JZ Horoz Garner from Pacific 6-3, 6-3 in his opening singles match. Sommer will face Phuc Nyunh from San Francisco in the second round.

Senior Piers Foley took down Jonathan Lieu from Pacific in the first round, 7-6, 6-4. Foley will play Colton Weeldreyer from Seattle U in his next round.

Freshman Ernesto Turegano beat Roberts from Portland State 6-3, 6-2. Turegano will matchup against Emilio Moreno of Gonzaga on Friday.

Freshman Ewen Lumsden beat Alvarez-Sanabria from Seattle U 6-3, 6-1. Lumsden will face Romeo Mitgaard Jivraj from San Francisco on Friday.

Sophomore Alexis Alvarez defeated Reckow from St. Mary's 6-1, 6-3 in his opening round. Alvarez will face Yuta Kikuchi from California in the second round.

Freshman Thomas Yates fell to Sah from Stanford 1-6, 1-6.

Friday's action will consist of doubles matches in the morning with two rounds of singles play in the afternoon.
