GymDawgs Set New Season Highs At Metroplex Challenge

FORT WORTH, Texas โ The Washington GymDawgs put up a new season-best team score with a 196.525 at the Metroplex Challenge, highlighted by Hailey Burleson's third-place finish on beam with a score of 9.900.ย The GymDawgs had new season-high event scores on bars with a team score of 49.200 and on beam with a team score of 49.175.
Individually, the GymDawgs set five new career bests.ย Monica Riley and Haley Roy set new career highs on bars and floor, respectively, while Evanni Roberson set new marks on bars, beam, and floor.ย Burleson's score of 9.900 on beam was a new season-high for the GymDawgs, besting her own mark set at Sacramento State to start the season.
"I'm extremely proud of how the team handled this meet," said Head Coach Elise Ray-Statz.ย "We were back on podium, in front of a large, loud crowd, starting on beam.ย They competed very well, taking another step forward.ย We are pushing towards a 197, so we took another step closer last night."

Vault, 48.950 โ It was the second week in a row the GymDawgs have had a team score of 48.950 on vault.ย Four GymDawgs had scores of 9.800 on vault: Monica Riley, Haley Roy, Hailey Burleson, and Evanni Roberson.
Bars, 49.200 โ Washington's score of 49.200 on bars was a new season high, besting last week's total of 49.100 by a tenth of a point.ย Riley had the team's highest individual score of 9.875, setting a new career high.ย Roberson had a score of 9.850 that was also a career high.ย Burleson, Maya Washington, and Michaela Nelson all had scores of 9.825.
Beam, 49.175 โ Washington set another new season high for an event, besting their previous team high on beam set at Sacramento State.ย Burleson had a score of 9.900, the third-highest at the Metroplex Challenge.ย Roberson wasn't far behind with her new career-best score of 9.875.ย Joslyn Goings earned a score of 9.825, while Madison Copiak had a score of 9.800.
Floor, 49.200 โ All six GymDawgs had scores over 9.800 on floor. Burleson, Roy, and Maya Washington all had individual scores of 9.850.ย Roy's 9.825 score was a new career-high.ย Roberson matched her career high with a score of 9.825, a mark also reached by Zoey Schaefer.ย Kristyn Hoffa had a score of 9.800.

The GymDawgs will stay in PAC-12 competition next week when they travel to Salt Lake City to take on Utah.ย That competition will be on Saturday, February 3 at 12:30 pm aired on the Pac-12 Network.
