
Three Huskies Advance To Canadian Team Final Selection Camp

OTTAWA, Ont. - Softball Canada announced the final 22 athletes who will advance to the final stages of the National Team selection process Friday, with Victoria Hayward, Danielle Lawrie, and Jenn Salling all advancing. The final selection camp will begin on May 30.
Team Canada will compete in the World Cup of Softball, the Canada Cup, and the Women's Softball World Championship over the next year, with these three Huskies working to make their way to those events.
The Huskies will be well-represented at all international competitions in 2018. In addition to the three Team Canada hopefuls, Team USA will include Huskies Ali Aguilar, Sis Bates, and Courtney Gano, who were all selected last week.
Hayward finished her four years at UW in 2014, with her career batting average of .364 ranking tenth in Husky history. She was named an All-American in 2014 when she hit .414/.513/.497 with 28 stolen bases in 30 attempts.
Salling was a two-time All-American for the Huskies, earning honors in 2010 and 2011. She is fifth in Washington history in on-base percentage with a career mark of .474 and 11th in slugging at .543.
Lawrie was a part of Washington's national championship team in 2009 and was an All-American three times in her career. She also earned USA Softball Player of the Year honors in 2009 and 2010 as well as Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year in 2010. Lawrie is first in Husky history in wins (136), first in strikeouts (1860), first in shutouts (65), and third in career ERA (1.24). She also threw five no-hitters and had a perfect game against Utah Valley on February 26, 2006.
