Douglas And Stewart Named To The All-Pac-12 Second Team
June 14, 2017 | Men's Tennis
SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced the men's tennis awards for the 2017 season today, with Washington's Jake Douglas and Mitch Stewart earning All-Pac-12 Second Team honors.
The two juniors are no strangers to post-season conference awards, as this is the second honor for Douglas, and third for Stewart in their three years with Washington.
Already in the Husky record books as one of the winningest singles players in program history, Douglas built upon his success as an upperclassman this past season, positing a .700 win percentage while adding 10 wins in doubles. The Rolling Hills, Calif. native was previously honored by the Pac-12 after his record-breaking freshman campaign, as we was tabbed All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention in 2015.
Stewart has now earned a conference honor in each of his three seasons as a Dawg after being named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team as both a freshman and sophomore. The Federal Way, Wash. native finished the 2017 season holding an ITA Singles Rankings since March 7th, and ended the year ranked 7th in the Northwest ITA Singles Rankings. This is the second award Stewart has received from the Pac-12 this season, as he was named All-Academic Pac-12 Honorable Mention last week.
