Huskies Close Season with Senior Day Thriller
April 19, 2026 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE - The University of Washington Men's Tennis Team dropped a thriller in a conference match 4-3 to No. 21 UCLA this afternoon. With this result, Washington finishes (8-17) on the season and (2–11) from Big Ten play. The Huskies will return to play come the Fall Invitational season.
It was Senior Day, here from the Qullian Tennis Stadium, as we honored Brett Pearson pre-match with a ceremony celebrating him and his achievements here on Montlake.
Brett would not disappoint on his day, as was able to capture a win of his own for singles in straight sets from the No. 4 to close his Husky career with a win and improving his all-time-combined-win total to 83.
Making his return to the lineup, Soham Purohit would take back his spot alongside Brett Pearson for the final time this season. This change would provide the No. 2 and No. 3 to go back to the usual conference lineup, however the Huskies would drop the doubles point to the Bruins, despite the close chance on court two as Nikola Plavsic and Hyeonseok Seo would end the match in an unfinished 5-3 (40-15), as the other matches closed out.
From Singles, Stephane Kamendje would break his streak of losses to ranked opponents, upsetting No. 33 Emon Van Loben Sels in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, sparking a comeback from the Huskies as being down 3-1, the Huskies would go to close out the following two matches to even out the scoreline, 3-3.
As Brett Pearson would capture his final win, and Nikola Plavsic would go to defeat Bengt Reinhard in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(3). This deadlock would set the stage for Rohan Belday to capture the match in a third set he forced after a 7-6(1) second set victory.
However, despite the victory in the second set, Rohan would come up just short in the third set, dropping the hard-fought match and set, 6-2.
