Introducing Sianna Siemonsma
May 24, 2017 | Women's Soccer
One of three members from the 2017 signing class hailing from California, Sianna Siemonsma will be joining the Huskies this coming season from Newport Beach, Calif. Playing her club soccer with Slammers FC, she helped lead the team to a top-four finish at the ECNL U17 Nationals last summer. As a member of the Newport Harbor High School team she was named the Daily Pilot High School Female Athlete of the Week this past season, and has been an active member in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Club throughout her time in school. Before joining the Huskies this summer we asked her a few questions in order to get to know her a little better.
What drew your initial interest in the University of Washington when you began your college search?
Their soccer program, coaching staff and school spirit.
What factors played the biggest role in you deciding to commit to Washington?
The coaching staff, the athletic facilities and ancillary support to the soccer program.
Have you spent much time in Seattle before?
Yes, we have good family friends that live there.
Other than soccer, what is your favorite sport to play?
I like to run track.
What athlete do you admire the most?
The athlete I admire the most is Carli Lloyd because she is one of the best female athletes in the world, a team player and a good team captain.
If you could have dinner with one person, who would it be?
I would have dinner with Martin Luther King Jr. because he was determined to change the views of the world and he did.
What are you most looking forward to as you begin your time here as a Husky?
Starting new friendships, developing as a soccer player, and creating a family away from home.
