
Huskies In Third At Western Intercollegiate As Darkness Halts Play

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- The University of Washington men's golf team finds itself in third place after shooting a collective 6-over through 31 holes on the opening day of the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calf. Play was suspended in the second round as darkness overcame the 6,615-yard, par-70 Pasatiempo Golf Course.
Freshman Henry Lee is 3-under and tied for fifth overall to lead the Huskies. The rookie shot even-par 70 in the first round and is 2-under through 13 holes in the second. Lee has eight birdies and 17 pars in the first 31 holes.
Junior Frank Garber posted Washington's second-best effort before action was postponed. The Kirkland, Wash. native also shot even-par 70 in the first round and is 1-under through 12 holes in the second. Garber will enter the final day of action tied for sixth.
Freshman Daniel List is tied for 14th after shooting even-par 70 through 11 holes in the second round and carding a 1-over 71 in the first.
Senior Kevin Kwon ended Saturday in a tie for 34th after shooting even-par 70 in the opening 18. Through 11 holes in the second round, Kwon is 4-over.
Pac-12 teams dominate the scoreboard, as USC is at 8-under to lead the field, followed by Stanford (even), Washington (+6), Oregon (+9) and ASU (+13). UCLA, Arizona and California also are part of the 15-team field. Justin Suh of USC leads the way at 5-under.
Washington will complete the second round on Sunday at 8 a.m. PT and will continue on to the final 18 holes of the tournament.
