Wildcats Blank Huskies In Series Opener

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 5 Washington Huskies (26-4, 3-1) fell to No. 4 Arizona (30-1, 4-0), 3-0, Friday night at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium.
Washington's third-ranked offense was unable to collect a hit off Arizona's Danielle O'Toole (15-1) in the series opener. The Huskies only baserunners all evening were on a walk to Taylor Van Zee in the fourth inning and when Ali Aguilar was hit by a pitch in the sixth.
Taran Alvelo (15-2) held her own against the Wildcat offense, striking out four and walking three in five innings. But, Arizona was able to get to her early and took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first off a pair of RBI singles.
Arizona's third run came off a solo home run from Tamara Statman in the sixth inning.
The Huskies and Wildcats return to the field tomorrow at 12 p.m. PT at Rita Hillenbrand Memoriam Stadium. The two will conclude their series on Sunday, March 26 at 12 p.m.
