
Get To Know: Sianna Siemonsma

It took just two games for Sianna Siemonsma to find her groove for UW. The freshman scored in just her second career game, potting a goal against Michigan State. She put up a brace later in the year against Boise State to help the Huskies win the Nike Portland Invitational. Siemonsma was named the Offensive MVP of that tournament as well and will head into 2018 as one of Washington's most potent offensive threats.
What does it feel like to play at Husky Soccer Stadium?
Siemonsma: Playing in the Husky Soccer Stadium is like a dream that is finally coming true.
What is something the coaching staff has taught you off the field?
Siemonsma: They taught me that the team should always come first.
What is it like to play in the Pac-12 Conference?
Siemonsma: Playing in the Pac-12 conference is very competitive because we are all playing to make it and win in the championship, but it is fun because you get to play against other really good teams.
What is your favorite thing about living in Seattle?
Siemonsma: My favorite thing about living in Seattle is how green it is here and getting to experience the different cultures here.
What are your favorite things to do in the summer in Seattle?
Siemonsma: My favorite things to do in Seattle in the summer are going to the lake and walking around Pike Place Market.
What are some of your earliest memories of playing soccer?
Siemonsma: When I scored my first hat trick when I was 8. It felt like I just won the World Cup. Another memory was when I was on a breakaway in my AYSO soccer days and I turned around to see if anyone was behind me and I ran straight into the goal post.
Who is your biggest inspiration(s) in why you play soccer?
Siemonsma: My biggest inspiration in why I play soccer are my mom, dad, and twin brother. My mom and dad taught me to never give up and to always give it my all. My twin brother is also an inspiration because he was the reason I fell in love with the game. Seeing him love and be so passionate about soccer made me fall in love with the sport. Growing up, we would always play soccer at the park.
What do you love most about playing soccer?
Siemonsma: What I love most about soccer is being able to get on that field and not have to worry about anything. Soccer is my stress reliever and it is a time to clear my mind. I also love being a family with my team and playing together.
Who were your favorite players growing up?
Siemonsma: My favorite soccer player growing up was Lionel Messi because his skill and speed while playing on the field always amazed me.
Can you talk about some of the experiences in soccer that have changed your life?
Siemonsma: Some experiences that have been opened up to me through soccer was making it to nationals in Maryland and finishing top four. Another experience that was given to me through soccer was being able to play college soccer here at the University of Washington.
