Fung Wins First Match At ITA National Championships

PALM DESERT, Calif. – No. 18 Stacey Fung won her first match in three sets (6-7(4), 6-2, 6-1) at the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships on Wednesday at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa.
Fung defeated No. 22 Jessie Aney from North Carolina in the first round of competition. In the first set, Fung lost in a close battle. The two had to go to a tiebreaker, which Aney won 7-4 to take the set, 7-6.
The last two sets were all Fung, however. She took the second set with a score of 6-2 and the third set, 6-1.
On Thursday, Fung will play Duke's Samantha Harris in the second round. Harris, who is ranked No. 54, won her match over Cal's Anna Bright in a two-set sweep, 6-0, 6-0.
