Day Two Sees Ranked Win For Fung At The Kansas Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Stacey Fung added another win over a ranked opponent to her resume as Washington women's tennis completed another day at the Kansas Invitational on Saturday.
The Huskies went 2-1 in doubles and 2-4 in singles on Saturday. Washington played Kansas duos in doubles and a mixture of players from Texas Tech and Wichita State in singles.
In singles, No. 18 Fung defeated No. 120 Valenstein from Texas Tech in two sets, 6-2, 6-3. This was her fifth win against a ranked foe, improving her record against ranked players this year to 5-1.
Alexis Prokopuik was the only other Husky to pick up a win in singles. She took down Texas Tech's Rush in two sets, 6-0, 6-2.
Senior Angela Li played a close match with Wichita State's Lazarova, taking it to three sets. However, she ultimately fell, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Lana Slavica, Vanessa Wong and Kenadi Hance all lost their matches in two sets.
Doubles saw two pairs earn wins. Fung and Prokopuik, the two singles winners, teamed up to take down Vogasari and Nikolaeva from Kansas in a close match, 7-6(2). Hance and Slavica won their match as well, keeping them undefeated in doubles at this tournament. Miki Kobayashi and Wong fell 6-1 to Kansas' ranked pairing, No. 37 Rychagova and Khmelnitckaia.
