Strong Day In Singles For Huskies At ITA Northwest Regionals

STOCKTON, Calif. – Piers Foley and Kawika Lam advanced to the round of 16 and four Huskies won in the consolation round on Friday in the ITA Northwest Regionals.
The day started off with the doubles round of 64, which Foley and Lam had a bye from. Alexis Alvarez and Sebastian Hawken teamed up to win their match 8-2. Unfortunately, Amit Batta and Jack Davis dropped their match 8-3.
In the round of 32, Foley and Lam played in an intense match against a duo from Fresno State. The Huskies pulled out the win, 8-7(5). Alvarez and Hawken dropped their match in that round, 8-2.
The singles round of 32 had two players from Washington, Davis and Batta. In a three-set match, Davis fell to Simon Stevens from Oregon, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Batta also lost, 6-4, 6-2.
The first round of the consolation bracket in singles saw a lot of success for the Huskies as all four players advanced. Both Foley and Alvarez won their matches due to their opponents getting injured.
Lam defeated Sacramento State's Louis Chabut in two sets, 6-4, 6-2. The last win came from Hawken, taking down Marco Barretto from San Francisco, 6-3, 6-2.
Day three of the ITA Northwest Regionals will be on Saturday. Draws and results can be seen on Pacific's website.
