
Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan Wins First ATP Tour Title

After advancing into the top 100 in doubles on the ATP Tour this past November, former Washington men's tennis team member Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan won his first ATP Tour Title this past Sunday at the Aircel Chennai Open.
Paired with Rohan Bopanna, the duo defeated Nikola Mektic and Marcelo Demoliner in the opening round 6-4, 6-4, before winning a close match against James Cerretani and Philipp Oswald 6-2, 3-6, 12-10. In the semifinal, they matched up with Nicholas Monroe and Artem Sitak, grabbing a close first set 7-6(4) and taking the second 6-4 for the win.
In the finals, Nedunchezhiyan and Bopanna matched up with fellow countrymen Purav Raja and Divij Sharan of India, defeating them 6-3, 6-4 to take the doubles championship. The win moved Nedunchezhiyan to a new career-high ATP rankling in doubles at 86th in the world.
