OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Senior Kimberlee Souza and junior Ali Aguilar were named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America teams, as announced today (Wednesday, June 1) by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Souza was named to the 18-player first team, while Aguilar was selected to the second team. It is the first career All-America honor for the pair. As a program, Washington has boasted 28 different All-Americans -- combining for 48 distinctions -- in its 24-year program history.
A first-team selection as a utility player, Souza garnered her first career All-American honor after a breakout senior season. The Waialua, Hawai'i native boasted career highs in every offensive category, including batting average (.346), runs (34), home runs (13), runs batted in (59), on base percentage (.449) and slugging percentage (.667).
Earlier this season, Souza became just the third Husky in program history and first in 16 years to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Also a first team All-Pacific Region and All-Pac-12 performer, she registered 18 multiple-RBI games, which was tied for most on the team and 14 multi-hit games.
Aguilar received one of five at-large berths to the second team. The shortstop ranks among the nation's leaders in several offensive categories, including runs per game, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. Also named All-Pac-12 first team and All-Pacific Region second team, the Orangevle, Calif. native led the team with 20 multi-hit and 18 multiple-RBI games, including four games in which she recorded five or more RBI.
