Huskies Finish Eighth at Bruin/Wave Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The ninth-ranked University of Washington earned an eighth-place finish at the 16-team Bruin/Wave Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. The Huskies carded a 49-over 913 at the 54-hole event and were led by senior Charlotte Thomas who recorded her sixth top-25 finish of the year. The Huskies have finished eighth or higher in all eight tournaments this season.
Thomas jumped four spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday after posting a 4-over 76 to finish the three-round tournament tied for 21st at 11-over 227.
She was joined in the top 25 by fellow senior Ying Luo who carded her best round of the week (2-over-74) over the final 18 to climb 11 spots and finish tied for 24th at 12-over 228.
Freshman Wenyung Keh fell six spots on the final day as she shot an 8-over 80 to place tied for 31st overall at 15-over 231. Rounding out scoring for UW was freshman Julianne Alvarez who also fell during the third round finishing with a 16-over-232 for a 38th place tie.
Sixth-ranked UCLA won the team title by 14 strokes with a 4-over 868. No. 15 Arizona State (18-over 882) came in second while 14th-ranked California finished third at 24-over 888. UCLA's Louise Ridderstrom claimed the individual title with her 3-under 213.
The Huskies return to action on Monday, March 7 at the Bay Area Classic in Fairfax, Calif.
