Huskies Sit in Eighth After Day One at Bruin/Wave Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The ninth-ranked University of Washington women's golf team currently sits in eighth place heading into the final 18 holes at the Bruin/Wave Invitational as they posted a 26-over 602 following 36 holes on Monday.
The Huskies were led by freshman Sarah Rhee who finished tied for 20th after earning rounds of even-par 72 and 5-over 77 for a 5-over 149.
She was followed by a trio of Dawgs who are tied for 26th at 7-over 151 heading into day two. Freshman Wenyung Keh, who is coming off of an individual title at the Peg Barnard Invitational, recorded rounds of 2-over 74 and 5-over 77.
Senior Charlotte Thomas also finished tied for 26th as she carded a 1-over 73 in round one after posting five birdies over the first 10 holes of the day. She followed that up with a 6-over 78 to sit 10 strokes off the lead.
Additionally, freshman Julianne Alvarez shares her spot on the leaderboard with Thomas and Keh as she wrapped up the day with a 7-over 151 with rounds of 75 and 76. Rounding out the UW contingent is senior Ying Luo who sits tied for 36th at 10-over 154.
No. 6 UCLA leads the field with an even-par 576, 10 strokes ahead of second place, 15th-ranked Arizona State (10-over-586). The Huskies sit 26 strokes back from the lead. UCLA's Lilia Vu sits atop the individual leaderboard with a 3-under-141.
Round two begins Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
