Huskies Fall To No. 14 Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, OK – The No. 33 Washington women's tennis team fell to No. 14 Oklahoma State today 4-0 in the first of a three-match weekend for the Huskies.
For only the second time this season, the Dawgs were unable to grab the doubles point to begin the match. Freshman duo Stacey Fung and Tami Grende took the first match to finish, defeating Maria Alvarez and Katarina Stresnakova 6-3 on court two. However the Huskies were unable to grab courts one and three, with Sophia Bott and Elainne Douglas-Miron falling 6-3, and Nour Abbes and Miki Kobayashi dropping their match by a close score of 7-6 (4).
“We were right there today in the doubles and in many of our singles matches,” said head coach Robin Stephenson. “The girls learned a lot from the match today and we will be better because of this loss.”
In singles Viktoriya Lushkova defeated Tami Grende 6-3, 6-1 on court three, with Sophia Bott falling in a 7-5, 6-2 match against Alvarez. To close out the match, the Cowgirls took the clinching point on court two as Vladica Babic defeated Stacey Fung 6-4, 6-4. The remaining singles matches were called off.
“We will bounce back quickly and make some adjustments for our match tomorrow against Wichita State,” said Stephenson.
