Keever And Simon Earn All-Pac-12 Honors
November 08, 2016 | Women's Soccer
SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced the winners of the 2016 women's soccer postseason awards today, with Washington forward Kimberly Keever earning All-Pac-12 Second Team honors, and junior Shannon Simon receiving honorable mention.
After earning all-conference honors in each of her first two seasons, Keever remained one of the top threats in the Pac-12, scoring four goals this year including one game-winner against Cal Poly. The junior harassed defenses this season, taking 47 shots with 20 of those on goal. Against Oregon she scored in the 21st minute to give the Huskies an early 1-0 lead, on a high-arching shot that dropped just inside the far post. The Manhattan Beach, Calif. native also scored against Colorado and UCLA this season, giving her three goals in conference play.
Matching her goal total from the season before, junior Shannon Simon was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention this season after leading the team in goals, points, shots and shots on goal. She wasted no time showing off her knack for finding the back of the net this year, scoring in the Huskies season opener at Portland. The team captain would add her second goal of the year on a beautiful strike against Cal Poly, before scoring a game-winning penalty kick against Seattle. Simon would go on to score against SMU, California, Arizona State and Arizona.
