
Husky Softball Announces Its 2017 Schedule

SEATTLE, WASH. β The University of Washington softball team and head coach Heather Tarr announced its 2017 schedule today, consisting of a challenging 47-game regular-season slate, including 17 home games at Husky Softball Stadium.
Coming off of an NCAA super-regional final berth in 2016, the Huskies will face 12 teams from last season's NCAA Tournament, with three making it all the way to the Women's College World Series. The Dawgs will face the national champion, Oklahoma as well as the runner up, Auburn this season.
Washington opens the season in Puerto Vallarta, Mex., on Feb. 9-14 to play five games in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. There the team will face 2016 NCAA champions, Oklahoma. Following their international trip, they will continue on to California for three tournaments: Campbell/Cartier Classic (feb. 16-18) in San Diego, Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic (Feb. 23-26) in Palm Springs and the Judi Garman Classic (March 3-5) in Fullerton.
Husky fans will have a host of opportunities to see the team up close this season, as the squad will host the annual Husky Classic on March 10-12 to open the home schedule. Washington will host Minnesota, Penn State, South Dakota and SeattleU.
The Purple and Gold will open Pac-12 Conference play at home against Arizona State University (March 17-19). The Huskies will also host Pac-12 matchups against Arizona (March 31-April 2), Oregon State (April 7-9) and Stanford (May 5-7).
The road portion of the league slate will kick off in Tucson for a three-game series against the University of Arizona (March 24-26). The next trip has the team scheduled for a three-game set against Oregon (April 13-15). The following weekend they will face-off with California in Berkeley (April 28-30). Regular season road play will conclude at Utah (May 11-13).
In between road trips at Oregon and California, the Huskies will travel to Alabama to play against the University of Alabama and University of Alabama-Birmingham (April 20-23).
Campus sites will serve as the backdrop for the NCAA Regional and Super Regional rounds the weeks of May 19-21 and 25-28, with the Women's College World Series taking place in Oklahoma City on June 1-7.
The Division I Softball Committee will conduct selections for the 2016 NCAA Division I Softball Championship May 14, 2017. The 64-team field will be selected from 283 NCAA Division I institutions sponsoring the sport of softball. Of the 64 teams, 32 teams will receive automatic qualification with the remaining best 32 teams selected on an at-large basis. Sixteen teams will be seeded and each of the seeded teams will be placed at one of the regional sites.
