No. 56 Huskies Fall at No. 52 Oregon, 4-1, to Close Out Pac-12 Play

EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 56 University of Washington men's tennis team suffered a 4-1 loss to the No. 52 Oregon Ducks, Saturday afternoon in Eugene. The Dawgs complete the regular season with a 12-10 record and a 2-5 mark in Pac-12 play.
Doubles play was a tight contest as the Ducks won on court two first with a 6-2 decision over Joao Barra and Viktor Farkas. Washington responded quickly as Wendell Watanabe and Jake Douglas earned a hard-fought 7-6 (5) win on court three for their second-straight win at that spot. Oregon went on to clinch the point in a tiebreak on court one as 48th-ranked Emmett Egger and Jeff Hawke fell 7-6 (10-8).
Singles play was highlighted by freshman Jake Douglas who earned his team-leading 21st win of the season with a straight-sets victory over Daniel Sardu at number two singles. Douglas picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win and moved his court two record 5-4.
The Ducks picked up wins on courts three, four and five to clinch the dual match victory. Emmett Egger fell on court three to Simon Stevens 6-2, 6-3 while Gal Hakak posted a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Jayson Amos at the number four spot. Jeff Hawke's match ended the day as he dropped a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 decision to Cormac Clissold on court five.
The Dawgs head to Ojai, Calif., for the Pac-12 Championships next week, starting April 22. UW is the six-seed and will face seven-seed Utah on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The winner will move on to face three-seed UCLA on Thursday.
