University of Washington 2008-09 (Senior): Closed out his Husky career with a 14-11 singles record, playing higher up in the lineup than ever before ... was 1-3 at No. 3 singles, 4-5 at No. 4, and a combined 5-0 in the fifth and sixth spots for a total of 10-8 in dual matches ... key wins came against Oklahoma, Boise State, Minnesota, Texas A&M, and Arizona ... was 14-5 before hitting a losing skid in his final six matches, four against ranked opponents ... competed in the Pac-10 main draw for the first time, falling to Arizona's Jay Goldman in the first round ... was 4-2 in the fall, with three wins coming at Northwest Regionals, where he made the round of 16 before falling to Cal's Jonathan Dahan ... was 4-6 on the year in doubles play, with all but one match coming with Ryo Sekiguchi ... was 1-2 in dual matches with Sekiguchi, and lost in the first round of the Pac-10 main doubles draw to a UCLA tandem ... earned Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention.
2007-08 (Junior): Had his best season yet, leading the team in overall singles wins with 24 against 10 losses, and going 11-5 in dual play for the best winning percentage of anyone with over 10 dual matches ... got off to a 19-5 start to the season ... was 1-0 at No. 4 singles, 4-3 at No. 5, and 6-2 at No. 6 ... went 13-5 in tournaments, four more wins than the next closest Husky ... won 9 of first 10 dual matches, including a key 7-5, 6-2 win over Pepperdine's Brian Brogan at the No. 6 spot in UW's 4-3 victory over the Waves ... scored UW's only point of the dual match against UCLA, defeating Nick Meister, 7-6, 6-2 ... rebounded from a 6-0 first set loss against Arizona's Ravid Hazi to win the next two sets 6-4 and 6-3 and help the Huskies outlast the Wildcats, 4-3 ... advanced to the semis of the Pac-10 Invitational, defeating Trojans Jack Levis and Abdullah Magdas in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals, respectively ... strung together four wins to reach the consolation final at ITA NW Regionals before falling to Xavier Barajas-Smith of Sacramento State ... was 4-4 in doubles play, 1-1 in dual matches teamed with Martin Kildahl ... his one dual win in doubles came against Ball State on Feb. 10 ... earned Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention.
2006-2007 (Sophomore): Saw action at No. 5 and No. 6 singles and was 15-9 overall and had a record of 7-5 in dual matches...4-1 at No. 5 and 3-4 at No. 6...started year 15-5 overall including 7-2 in dual matches before four match skid...advanced to the semifinals of the Flight B bracket of the Bulldog Classic...was 6-3 in singles action during the fall for the Huskies ...was 1-2 in doubles while pairing with Holden Ching.
2005-2006 (Freshman): Saw considerable action as a true freshman...named team's Haller Peterson Award winner...compiled a 11-6 record in singles play and a 5-4 record in doubles...reached the final consolation round at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic...was a finalist at the Bulldog Classic Doubles Championship with teammate and brother Daniel Chu...reached the Pac-10 Invitational Championship Quarterfinal.

Best thing about the coaching staff: They are very knowledgeable on the game of tennis. They are not only very dedicated and caring about every single teammate's tennis development but also building our character.
Favorite pro player or favorite match you've seen: When I was 15, Andre Agassi came to Vancouver and played an exhibition match against Jim Courier. At the end of the match I had the chance to play with Agassi. That was my most memorable match.
Current cell phone ringtone: N/A. I'm probably the only student at UW with no cell phone.
Best piece of advice you've received during tennis career: "Play the ball"
What UW class has taught you the most? Econ 422 and 424
Favorite game to play at recess in elementary school: Cops and Robbers!
Pre-match ritual: 1) Check bag: banana, towel, rackets, energy bars. 2) Relax. 3) Get blood pumped and flowing few minutes before match starts.

David Vincent Chu...2005 graduate of Magee Secondary High School in Vancouver, B.C....ranked as high as No. 3 in the Under-16 Canadian National rankings...finished fourth at National Indoors and lost in the Round of 16 at National Outdoors...parents, Keith and Athena, are both teachers...brother Daniel is a senior on the team...intends on majoring in business.
