SAMMAMISH, Wash. -- The Husky women's golf team shot 15-over 303 in the first round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on Monday and sits in fifth place at their own tournament hosted by Sahalee Country Club.
Oregon State entered the clubhouse leading the team portion of the tournament after a first round 10-over 298. Colorado and California are tied for second, one shot behind at +11.
Oregon is fourth at +13, followed by Washington, Gonzaga (+17), UNLV and Idaho (+23), San Jose State (+26), Nebraska (+30), BYU and Washington State (+34).
Alex Stewart of Colorado is the individual leader after shooting 2-under 70. Oregon State's Anica Yoo and Oregon's Cassy Isagawa are tied for second after shooting even-par 72's.
Freshman Jennifer Yang led the Huskies' push, shooting a team-best 1-over 73. Yang, from Coquitlam, B.C., is tied for fourth with three other golfers.

Yang took a simple approach at the narrow, tree-lined 6,003-yard course just east of Seattle.
"My goal was to put it in the fairway and on the green and make sure I get pars and make some birdies along the way," Yang said after notching one birdie, two bogeys and 15 pars.
"My shots weren't that accurate today. I put some in the rough, but then I still was able to get up-and-down. It kind of worked out."
Husky Head Coach Mary Lou Mulflur was impressed by her young freshman.
"She is just a solid player," Mulflur said of Yang, who is playing in just her second collegiate tournament. "She kind of played the type of round you expect from her - just made a lot of pars and didn't make any mistakes. She only had one birdie today, which is kind of unusual for her, but what we saw today is a regular round for her."
Mulflur was hoping sloppy weather would play a bigger factor during the day and give the Huskies a home field advantage. Rain greeted the golfers during the first couple hours of the tournament, but slowly faded away throughout the day.
"We were hoping it would be bad. I guess we needed it to be worse," quipped Mulflur.
Junior Brittany Tallman, who is competing as an individual, is next among Huskies on the leaderboard after posting a 2-over 74. She is tied for eighth.
Soo Bin Kim shot 76 (+4) and is second among UW team scorers. She is tied for 14th.
Sophomore Kelli Bowers and senior Sadena Parks are tied for 24th at +5. Freshman Cyd Okino rounded out the UW team scores with a 7-over 79.
Husky individual competitors Jennifer Liedes shot 9-over 81 (T46th) and Darcie Richmond shot 85 (T57th).
Tuesday's second round is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
