SEATTLE - Five seniors played their final home game at Husky Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as Hannah Greig, Kellye Joswick, Jane Mitchell, Kendyl Pele and McKenna Waitley were all honored prior to the Oregon State game. However, the No. 19-ranked Beavers came out with the 1-0 victory.
Washington falls to 10-6-1 overall and 3-3-0 in Pac-10 play while OSU is 13-1-1 and 5-0-0.
OSU's game-winning goal came in the ninth minute by Jenna Richardson, unassisted. She took the ball one-on-one with the Husky keeper, Jorden LaFontaine-Kussmann and put the ball on the ground to the left side for her sixth goal of the season.
The Huskies took control of the ball much of the second half, outshooting OSU 10-5. The Beavers had the advantage on shots, 10-5 in the first half.
"Today was a game we could've won," said head coach Lesle Gallimore. "In the second half our energy was a lot better and we outshot them. We created opportunities but didn't get the shot off that we needed.'
Waitley led the Huskies with three total shots.
UW won the corner kicks 6-5.
Junior Jorde LaFontaine-Kussmann (Lakewood, Wash.) made five saves on goal but falls to 7-6-1.
The Huskies hit the road next weekend to take on UCLA on FSN at 8 p.m. on Friday and USC on Sunday.
