
UW Women Drop Season Opener, 2-0

MILWAUKEE - The UW women's soccer team opened the 2007 season with a 2-0 loss to Marquette Friday night in the first game of the Milwaukee Cup at Engelmann Field.
Marquette (1-0) used goals on either side of halftime to pick up the win as the Huskies fell to 0-1 on the year.
Golden Eagles forward Anna Sawicki gave Marquette the lead at the 40:23 mark in the first half, scoring off of a corner-kick assist from Katie Kelly.
Just after halftime, at the 48:11 mark, senior Christy Zwolski scored on an assist from both Sawicki and Kelly to make it 2-0.
Washington was out-shot, 13-5 by Marquette.
The Huskies continue play in the Milwaukee Cup Sunday with a game vs. host Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Kickoff is slated for 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
