Alex Vlaski Defeated In Singles Final At Pac-10 Tennis Championships

OJAI, Calif. - Washington sophomore Alex Vlaski fell one win shy of a conference crown, losing in straight sets to UCLA's Marcin Matkowski in the men's singles final at the Pac-10 Tennis Championships in Ojai, Calif., Sunday afternoon.
Matkowski, the top-seeded player going into the conference tournament, defeated Vlaski 6-4, 6-2. It was the second-straight trip to the Pac-10 finals for Vlaski, who fell to another Bruin, Rodrigo Grilli, as a freshman last year.
Sunday's match marked the second meeting of the season between Vlaski and Matkowski. Matkowski also won the April 12 match (6-2, 6-2) in a dual contest between the Huskies and Bruins in Los Angeles.
Up next, the Huskies will learn of their postseason fate when the NCAA selections and regional sites are announced on ESPNews, Wednesday, April 30, at 1:45 p.m. The women's announcement will be made at 1:30 p.m. PT.
