Today's 74- 54 win over Cal today marked the 13th straight home win of the season for the Huskies, and pushed their overall record to 19-5. This moves the all time record between the schools to 33-8, and marks the sixth win in a row for the Dawgs. The Huskies have also won 13 of the last 14 games against Cal.
The Husky defense held Cal to just 54 points in today's contest, the second-fewest points allowed this season. UW gave up a season-low 48 points to St. Bonaventure on Nov. 29, 2002, at the Seattle Times Classic (105-48).
Washington is now 9-0 when an opponent scores less than 60 points in a game.
Although Loree Payne scored only six points today, she still managed to surpass Karen Deden on the all-time Husky scorer's list. Payne moved into seventh with 1,597 points, passing Deden's 1,596 all time points.
For the first time this season, the Huskies did not allow a single three-point field goal made (Cal was 0-5 from behind the arc). The last time UW held an opponent from making a three-pointer was last year at UCLA on February 3, 2002.
Washington also tied a season high for steals with 15. This ties the mark it set against St. Bonaventure earlier in the year.
Washington's 20 percent 3-point shooting effort was the second lowest this season, and its three treys were the second-lowest season output. The lowest marks in both categories were set at Cal on January 16, 2002 where UW shot 14.3 percent (2-14).
Giuliana Mendiola tied her career high for steals with 4, and Sarah Keeler set a new personal record with 3 steals.
In Kellie Dalan's second game back in the starting line-up since Dec. 20, she went 6-6 from the field, scoring a total of 13 points.
