STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Nicole Powell had 21 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds as second-ranked Stanford won its 17th straight game and clinched the Pac-10 Conference title with an 81-65 victory Thursday night over second-place Washington.
It was Powell's third triple-double of the season and fourth of her career. The 6-foot-2 sophomore guard was selected Tuesday as one of the 20 finalists for the Naismith College Women's Player of the Year.
Lindsey Yamasaki added 19 points and Bethany Donaphin 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Cardinal (25-1, 15-0) broke a five-game winning streak by the Huskies (15-9, 10-5).
Andrea Lalum led Washington with 18 points, Giuliana Mendiola added 14 and Loree Payne 11. The Huskies' last defeat was to Stanford on Jan. 19.
The Cardinal, who assured themselves the top seed at the inaugural Pac-10 Tournament next month, used long-distance shooting to take control early in the second half. Stanford went on a 26-11 run in the second half thanks in part to five 3-pointers - three from Yamasaki.
