CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Jimmie Haywood scored a career-high 16 points to lead Oregon State to a 63-56 victory over Washington Saturday night.
With the score tied at 48-48, Emonte Jernigan hit a 3-pointer to give the Beavers (8-9, 2-3) the lead for good.
The Huskies (8-10, 2-4) missed their next nine shots as Oregon State built its lead to 56-48 with just over a minute left.
Washington closed the lead to 60-56 with a 3-pointer from Michael Johnson, but the Beavers sealed the victory with three free throws in the final 25 seconds.
Jernigan scored 12 points for the Beavers, and Deaundra Tanner added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jason Heide, playing for the first time since spraining his ankle on Jan. 11, came off the bench to score 10 points for Oregon State.
Greg Clark scored a career-high 13 points to lead Washington and Will Perkins added 12 points.
