Volleyball Sweeps Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. - After falling to ninth-ranked Wisconsin in a marathon match earlier in the day, the Washington volleyball team responded and beat Illinois State, 3-0, Saturday night at the Illinois State Classic. Game scores were 15-8, 15-8 and 15-11.
The Huskies went 1-2 in the tournament and are 2-2 on the season.
Sophomore Allison Richardson and senior Kristina Laffling led the Huskies once again in the win over ISU. Richardson posted match highs with 14 kills and 16 digs. Laffling kicked in with 13 kills and 12 digs, also better totals than any one ISU player. Redshirt-freshman Linnet Rain also had a solid match with seven kills and only one error on nine attempts while leading the Huskies with five blocks.
Kendra Haselhorst led the Redbirds (1-2) with 11 kills.
Both Richardson and Laffling were named to the all-tournament team.
The Huskies travel to face Sacramento State next Wednesday before playing in a tournament at the University of the Pacific next weekend.
