CLEMSON, S.C. - Forward Deliah Arrington scored twice and added an assist on Friday, lifting 10th-ranked Clemson to a 3-0 victory over Washington in the season opener for the Husky women's soccer team.
The Tigers, who improved to 3-0, scored 13 minutes into the game as Alison Burpee headed in a cross from Arrington.
The scored remained 1-0 at halftime before Arrington tallied a pair of goals during a two-minute span. She fielded a carom off Washington freshman goalkeeper Hope Solo and scored from 2-yards out at 67:51. Arrington headed in the final goal at 69:49.
Solo, a high school All-American from Richland, Wash., registered seven saves for the Huskies who were outshot 16-9.
Washington concludes its season-opening two-game road trip on Sunday at Georgia.
