SALT LAKE CITY - Shauna Gurr scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime on Sunday, lifting Utah to a 1-0 victory over the Washington women's soccer team at Ute Field.
Utah improved its record to 6-3 while the Huskies dropped to 2-5 after being swept on its two-game road trip. Washington lost 3-0 to 11th-ranked Brigham Young on Friday.
Gurr received a pass from Alli Cerruti and booted it into the net two minutes into the second overtime. Her goal, at 107:05, came on the Ute's eighth shot of the overtime. The Huskies did not attempt a shot in the extra session.
Utah's only other meeting against Washington also resulted in an overtime win, a 3-2 decision last season in Seattle.
Junior goalkeeper Leslie Weeks registered 12 saves for the Huskies who were outshot 20-15. Courtney Hills made eight saves for Utah.
Washington returns home to host the Nike Invitational, beginning Friday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. against UC-Irvine.
