SEATTLE-Junior forward Theresa Wagner scored three goals and sophomore teammate Caroline Putz distributed three assists on Friday as Washington defeated UC Irvine 4-0 during the opening round of the Husky Nike Invitational women's soccer tournament at Husky Soccer Field.
Washington (3-5) will meet Portland (5-4-1) in the championship game of the tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Pilots did all of their scoring in the second half of a 4-0 victory over Washington State (5-4) in the other first-round matchup. The Cougars play UC Irvine on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Wagner opened the scoring seven minutes into the contest on a 15-yard shot set up by passes from Putz and Katey Ward. She scored the Huskies' third goal at 62:55 and completed the hat trick at 79:54, assisted by Putz.

Junior Malia Arrant, who assisted on Wagner's second goal, scored the second Washington tally at 50:53. She booted an 18-yard liner that was set up by passes from Putz and Tami Bennett, who also was credited with an assist on Wagner's second goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Hope Solo had one save for Washington en route to her first collegiate shutout. Allison Merrick made seven saves for UC Irvine which was outshot 27-4 by the Huskies.
