PROVO, Utah - Forward Sara Reading scored the first goal and assisted on the final tally as 11th-ranked Brigham Young defeated the Washington women's soccer team 3-0 on Friday at South Field.
Washington (2-4) had a two-game winning streak halted, losing its third game to a nationally ranked opponent.
Reading headed in a cross 16 minutes into the game to give BYU the only goal it would need. The Cougars (8-1) got insurance tallies from Maren Hendershot at 28:53 and Karen Wunderli at 53:35.
Freshman goalkeeper Hope Solo registered 13 saves, just one shy of the Washington single-game record established by Tamara Browder in 1992. A product of Richland (Wash.) High School, Solo was a two-time prep All-American.
Jennifer Waldron made four saves for BYU which outshot the Huskies 24-6.
Washington concludes its four-game road trip at Utah on Sunday.
