Volleyball Takes Arizona To Five Games

SEATTLE - The Washington volleyball team rallied from two games down to take No. 19 Arizona to five games, but lost by a 3-2 score Friday night at a packed Pavilion Addition. Game scores were 16-14, 15-2, 11-15, 11-15, 21-19.
The Huskies fell to 8-14 on the season and 4-10 in the Pac-10 with the loss, its third straight (all against ranked teams). Arizona, in fourth place in the conference, improved to 14-8 and 8-5.
Washington had two match-point serves in the final game, but Arizona came through on its fifth chance of the game, which was tied at nearly every point on the way to the 21-19 final score.
Washington had five players reach double-figures in kills. Allison Richardson led with 20 and Kristina Laffling had 19. Sophomore Lisa Underhill chipped in with 17 kills and a career-high 12 blocks, most by any Husky this season. Freshman Paige Benjamin posted a career-high 11 kills while sophomore Malena Thompson had a season-high 12.
Arizona got a match-high 24 kills from Lisa Rutledge while Marisa DaLee had 16. Stefani Saragosa (14), Shannon Torregrosa (10) and Jill Talbot (10) all reached double-figures as well.
The Huskies take on Arizona State Saturday night at the Pavilion Addition.
