SEATTLE - The Washington volleyball team, playing almost the entire match without senior Kristina Laffling, lost in three games to Arizona State Friday night at the Pavilion Addition. Game scores were 15-9, 15-11, 15-8.
Laffling, the UW's lone senior and an All-Pac-10 first-teamer a year ago, sprained her ankle early in the first game and did not return. The Huskies fell to 8-15 on the year and 4-11 in the Pac-10. Arizona State improved to 11-10 overall and 7-7 in the league.
ASU's Amanda Burbridge led all players with 22 kills. She was one of four Sun Devils to reach double-figures in kills. Joining her were Jami Coughlin (14), Jamie Peck (12) and Laura Hibsman (11).
Washington was led by Paige Benjamin. The freshman from Redmond, Wash., posted a career-high with 16 kills, bettering her personal mark of 11 set Friday against Arizona. She also had four blocks to lead her team.
Lisa Underhill had 14 kills and hit .591 while Allison Richardson chipped in with 12 kills for UW.
The Huskies close out the home schedule next Friday night when they host Washington State.
