Owner and founder of Momentum Nutrition and Fitness in Seattle, Emily Edison is a recognized expert in the area of sports nutrition. Edison specializes in nutrition for athletes, wellness, and the management of eating disorders. Her practice includes teaching people how to eat for performance, improve vitality, and to recognize their individual internal cues for eating.
In her sixth season as the Sports Dietitian for the entire University of Washington Husky Athletic Department, Emily provides nutrition coaching for Husky athletes, coaches and training staff. The 2008 NCAA National Champion Cross Country, Crew and Softball teams, look to Edison for her sport nutrition guidance.
As the Washington coordinator of the WINForum (Washington Interscholastic Nutrition Forum) Edison is instrumental in providing access to accurate, science-based sport nutrition information for high school coaches, parents and athletes through clinics and an on-line website (WINForum.org). Edison is a leader in nutrition education for athletes.
As a media spokesperson for the Washington Dairy Commission and the National Cherry Marketing Institute, Edison illustrates complex nutrition principals in creative, straightforward messages for the public. Her inventive work has been featured in the Seattle Times, magazines including Women's Running and Jump, and the Alaska Airlines Publication. She makes regular appearances on Northwest television networks, such as King 5 as an expert in sports nutrition.
Emily graduated with honors from Washington State University with a degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition and received her graduate degree in Human Nutrition with emphasis in Sport Nutrition from Marywood University in Scranton PA. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and takes part in ADA's practice groups for sports nutritionists (SCAN) and nutrition entrepreneurs (NE).
Sports and nutrition are personal as well as professional interests of Emily's. A former competitive figure skater, Emily now stays active in-line skating, golfing, water skiing and snowboarding. She is a gourmet cook with a passion for entertaining and is currently writing a cookbook. Edison lives in Kenmore with her husband Scott, an active baby girl Elyse and her fun loving dog, Erl.
