Danielle Hansen joins the Husky coaching staff as an intern coach for the 2017-18 season. She'll help in developing the Huskies' walk-ons.
Hansen, who completed her collegiate rowing career at Washington as a senior in 2017, won a silver medal at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, rowing the United States' legs, trunk and arms mixed four. As a senior, she was a part of Washington's historic NCAA championship team, as the Huskies became the first program ever to sweep all three grand finals at the NCAA Regatta.
A member of Pac-12 champion third varsity eight boats in 2016 and 2017, Hansen also won silver medals in the USA LTAMix4+ at the 2014 and 2015 World Championships. She was named the winner of USRowing's Fan Choice Awards National Team Athlete of the Year in 2016.
In 2017, she rowed in the LTAMix4+ that won the silver medal at the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Fla.
A native of Patterson, Calif., where she was a four-sport letterwinner, Hansen earned a psychology degree from the UW in 2016.
