Cailly O’Toole joined the UW coaching staff at the start of the 2025-26 school year.
O’Toole, a former rower at Ohio State, comes to UW after one season coaching with the University of Virginia men’s team, capping her time with the Cavaliers winning the varsity and second varsity eight national championships at the ARCA regatta. O’Toole was named ARCA Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year for 2025-26.
Prior to her time at UVa, O’Toole worked at her alma mater, Ohio State. During the 2023-24 season, she was novice coach for the Buckeyes, having served as a graduate assistant coach the two seasons prior. In 2022, Ohio State won the Big Ten championship and in 2023, the Buckeyes finished second.
O’Toole rowed at Ohio State from 2017 through 2019, helping the Buckeyes to a sweep of the Big Ten Championship regatta in 2018. After 2019, she medically retired from the sport and begin her coaching career as an undergraduate assistant, working primarily with the walk-ons.
O’Toole graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport industry, and then earned her master’s degree, also from Ohio State, in sports coaching, in 2023.
