Jen Llewellyn has led the Huskies for the past three seasons at the University of Washington. Most recently in 2024, the GymDawgs finished the season tabbed No. 23 in the Road to Nationals rankings. Llewellyn led the Huskies to the NCAA Regionals for the third time in as many years — where the squad competed at the Berkeley Regional and earned a 196.650. Llewellyn guided her first student-athlete at Washington to NCAA Nationals, as senior Skylar Killough-Wilhelm qualified as an individual all-arounder for the NCAA National Championships. Killough-Wilhelm, who earned First Team All-Pac-12 All-Around, Regional Floor Co-Champion (9.950) and two-time Pac-12 Coaches Choice of the Week — received her first All-American honors in Fort Worth where she earned First Team All-American (Bars) and Second Team All-American (All-Around) honors. In 2024, the Huskies finished first in two quad meets under Llewellyn. The Dawgs placed first in the Boise State quad with a 197.200 over host Boise State, Minnesota and UC Davis. Washington’s second 197+ of the year (197.175) came in the 2024 home finale with BYU, Southern Utah and Sacramento State. During the 2023 season, Lllewellyn led the GymDawgs to their first NCAA Regional Final since 2018. The team earned a 196.775, their second highest team score of the year, in the second round of the Los Angeles Regional to advance to the Regional Final for the first time in five seasons. The squad’s 196.775 was good for a second place finish in the Huskies’ session of the Regional, upsetting then No. 12 Auburn and besting Southern Utah. Llewellyn, along with her fellow assistants Cody Llewellyn and Jeffrey Langenstein, led the GymDawgs to their highest score ever at Regionals in the 2022 season where they faced No. 5 Alabama, No. 12 Michigan State and BYU. Washington finished with a final team score of 197.175, the second time the Huskies broke the 197 mark in the season. Llewellyn joined the Huskies after nine successful years leading Lindenwood University to multiple Division II national championships. Since taking over Lindenwood in 2013 as the first head coach in program history, Llewellyn led the Lions to six conference championships and three USAG National Championships. Three times she was named the Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Head Coach of the Year, taking home the honor in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Llewellyn has also twice been named the USA Gymnastics Head Coach of the Year, in 2015 and 2016. She helped the Lions earn three different Gymnast of the Year awards from the MIC, including the 2015 Gymnast of the Year, the 2015 Newcomer of the Year, and the 2018 Senior Athlete of the Year. Llewellyn coached the Lions to their first-ever NCAA Regionals appearance, with Lindenwood finishing 2019 by winning the MIC championship and heading to the Baton Rouge Regional as the third ever Division II program to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. The Lions had eight different individuals qualify for Regionals in Llewellyn’s time as head coach, including three in 2021. Lindenwood also earned four WCGA All-American honors in 2021, giving the Lions 64 All-Americans during Llewellyn’s tenure. Llewellyn herself garnered plenty of awards as well: in 2020 and 2021, she was named the Division II Regional Coach of the Year. A native of Kenmore, Washington, Llewellyn was a First-Team All-American during her college career at Oregon State, finishing second in the nation on bars as a senior. That was one of three All-American awards for Llewellyn in her collegiate career. She would also win a Pac-12 championship in 2009 on bars and an NCAA Regionals championship in 2008 on bars. |
