Nate Tewell serves as the general manager for Washington women’s basketball and enters his sixth season with the program in 2026-27. Tewell was promoted to general manager following the 2023-24 season after previously serving as chief of staff/director of player personnel and influence and as the program’s multimedia designer.
At Washington, Tewell oversees several areas of the program’s external and strategic operations, including branding, media relations, business partnerships, and revenue-sharing strategy. He works closely with athletics leadership and external partners to help position the program for sustained success in the evolving landscape of collegiate athletics while supporting the program’s overall brand and presence in the Seattle community.
Tewell also plays a central role in student-athlete development beyond the court. He supports players as they navigate NIL opportunities, career development, and personal and professional growth, helping student-athletes evaluate opportunities, develop job-search strategies, and build skills that prepare them for life beyond basketball.
During his first two seasons at Washington, Tewell led the program’s media and branding efforts, producing recruiting materials, promotional content, and internal creative projects. He also supported team operations and assisted across several areas of the program before transitioning into expanded personnel, strategic, and external-facing responsibilities.
Before joining the Huskies in June 2021, Tewell graduated from Duke University with a degree in psychology and neuroscience. While in Durham, he served as a practice player for the women’s basketball program and assisted with camps, recruiting materials, and opponent scouting. Tewell also co-founded Coach2Inspire, a nonprofit that connects college students with under-resourced youth sports leagues, and helped launch the inaugural Duke Sports Business Conference. He has continued to serve both organizations as a member of their boards.
Tewell credits his work ethic and values to his parents, Ryan and Holly Tewell, and his three younger siblings, Hope, Tyler, and Ellie.
