He spent the season working with the UW freshmen, four of whom crewed the four at IRAs.
Following the 2024 season, Engstrom and his fellow UW coaches were named the IRCA Staff of the Year.
A native of Lincoln, Mass., Engstrom spent four years on the Huskies' men's rowing team, culminating his career with a win in the UW's second varsity eight crew at the 2021 IRA National Championship regatta. He also won in the 3V8+ in 2019.
A first-team Academic All-Pac-12 honoree as a sophomore in 2019, Engstrom was named to the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll in 2020 and was both an IRCA Scholar-Athlete and an IRA Academic All-America in 2021.
