In her two years with the Huskies, Lewis has been a stalwart defensive midfielder, routinely snuffing out attacks. This year, Lewis has started all but one game, playing 80+ minutes in all but four. She had a stretch of six games in which she never rested, playing over the regulation 90 twice in that span as well. In 2016, Lewis scored her first goal as a Husky, coming against UCLA. Before transferring to UW, Lewis spent two years at Carleton College, earning All-Conference First Team and NSCAA All-North Region honors both years while serving as a team captain.
What are some of your favorite memories at UW?
On the field some of my favorite memories these past two years have been beating #2 Florida at home this season and beating #13 Santa Clara at home last season. I like being the “underdog” because its all the more gratifying when you win! Off the field I’ve really enjoyed skiing with girls on the team and adventuring with teammates outside of Seattle when we have time.
How have you grown while at UW?
I think I’ve become more confident in general and come to appreciate the process of working toward a common goal, instead of just the outcome. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to help prepare me for life after college and soccer, and I’m really grateful for that.
Do you have any message for the coaching staff and team?
Thanks for the support and all the opportunities you have given me. You guys are awesome!
What are your plans after graduating?
I’m hoping to teach mountaineering and work ski patrol up at Stevens for a few seasons. I’m also considering playing abroad this winter, we’ll see what works out.
