Since my career as a college athlete (consisting of one full year and a couple of months), it is seems unusual to have a weekend off. In normal circumstances, college gymnastics prepares you mentally and physically for competitions every weekend. Although we did not have a competition this past weekend, everyone kept up the hard work and great attitude, perfecting the old skills and working on new tricks.
Monday was exciting because our new friend, Emily, worked out with us. Congrats on your round off backhandspring, Emily!!
Throughout the week, I saw numerous improvements in each of my teammates:
Chelsea - her vaults are improving on a daily basis, and she was hitting some awesome bar routines.
Darcee - the consistency and form on bars and her nice 2 ˝ on floor will definitely benefit our team.
Tori - not only does she portray persistence and consistency on every event, but she started twisting her vaults this past week!
Nikki - she is my bars hero for the amazing bar routine consisting of both the reverse hect and jaeger!
Natalie - hats off to Nat for the awesome full out on bars and her return on vault since her foot injury.
Jenni - demonstrating positive attitude and effort toward her new beam series.
Raimey - her great attitude, spirit and support for our team.
Ashley - in addition from continuing to perfect her three impressive events, she now has become a competitive bar worker.
Kelly - making some excellent whip double fulls on floor.
Emily - consistency on beam and improving the power on vault.
Katie - overall improvement on every event and being really aggressive on bars and beam.
Bo - great work on the aerial full dismount off beam and her new bar routine is absolutely beautiful.
Celia - Yeah, beam!!! I did the double look when I saw Celia flipping and twisting on beam.
Cassidy - her vaults are becoming more aggressive and consistent in practice.
It was a nice break to have last weekend off, concentrating on new skills, and perfecting individual tricks. I am impressed with the great attitude and effort my teammates portray to strive for more, as the bar is continuously set higher and higher each practice. I can't wait for the team to compete this weekend in front of a home crowd to show off all the great improvements we have made in the gym this past week.
With positive attitudes and more confidence, we are ready to take on Arizona.
Here we go Huskies!!!
