Williams Named To All-Nicklaus Team

BELFAST - The 24 honorees for the 2012 All-Nicklaus Team have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America and Washington's Chris Williams was among the golfers named to the squad.
The award recognized players from Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA for their outstanding play during the past collegiate season.
Williams just completed his junior season at Washington and recently moved up to No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. The Moscow, Idaho native was previously named to the first team of both the PING and Golfweek All-American teams.
Williams was a catalyst for the Huskies all season, placing first among the team at 10 of 12 team stroke play tournaments. He was second in the other two. He finished the year with a 70.61 stroke average per round, which ranks second all-time in UW single season history. His seven top-10 finishes give him 20 for his career -- third most in UW history. He won three times during the season and holds the UW record with six career victories.
The All-Nicklaus Team was created in 2008, and is not only named for history's greatest player but also a long-time supporter of collegiate and amateur golf. Jack Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at The Ohio State University, helped inspire and create the Jack Nicklaus Awards in 1988. The Nicklaus Award is annually given to the top collegiate men's golfer in Divisions I, II, III, the NAIA and the NJCAA.
