Williams Named 1st Team All-American By Golfweek

SEATTLE - Husky junior golfer Chris Williams was named first team All-American by Golfweek on Wednesday while freshman Cheng-Tsung Pan earned third team honors.
Williams, who previously was named to the first team of the PING All-American team and Pac-12 squad, finished the year ranked fifth by Golfweek. He led Washington to the quarterfinals of match play at the NCAA Championship after the Huskies ended up sixth after stroke play.
Williams was a catalyst for the Huskies all season, placing first among the team at 10 of 12 team stroke play tournaments. He was second in the other two. He finished the year with a 70.61 stroke average per round, which ranks second all-time in UW single season history. His seven top-10 finishes give him 20 for his career -- third most in UW history.
The Moscow, Idaho native won three times during the season and holds the UW record with six career victories. He enters the summer sixth in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and fifth in the Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings.
Pan, a 2012 Pac-12 First Team member and GCAA First Team Freshman All-American, ended the year ranked 26th by Golfweek.
Pan was first among Huskies in four stroke play events and second behind Williams in seven other tournaments. His stroke average of 71.29 is 8th all-time in UW history and second all-time among UW freshmen.
The native of Tawaian burst onto the college golf scene by shooting 15-under 201 to win The Prestige at PGA WEST in just his second event. In all, Pan had six top-10 finishes during the year.
