Hathaway, Larsen Earn Freshman All-America

TUCSON, Ariz. - Washington baseball players Aaron Hathaway and Kyle Larsen have been named to Collegiate Baseball's Freshman All-America team, the magazine announced today.
Hathaway, a catcher from Vancouver, Wash. (Columbia River High), emerged as the Huskies' starting catcher for most of the season, starting all but two Pac-10 games and 31 of the last 33 games overall. He batted .329 with four home runs, 29 runs batted in and nine stolen bases. Hathaway was an honorable mention All-Pac-10 selection and was named to the NCAA All-Regional team at last weekend's regional in Houston.
Larsen, a first baseman from Redmond, Wash. (Eastlake High), started 47 of the Huskies' 61 games at first base and, over the last half of the season, often hit third in the batting order. He finished the year hitting .342 with five home runs and 37 runs batted in and was also All-Pac-10 honorable mention. He also handled 454 defensive chances without making an error.
Hathaway and Larsen were two of only four Pac-10 players named to the first team. The others were Arizona State shortstop Dustin Pedroia and UCLA pitcher/first baseman Wes Whisler.
