SEATTLE – Washington Athletics staff and student-athletes kicked off the annual Husky Committed Service Week on Sunday with Husky Heroes.
UW Athletics, in partnership with Symetra, welcomed individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to Husky Ballpark for a carnival-style field day with interactive sports stations, inflatable activities, snacks, goodie bags, and T-shirts.
Husky student-athletes engaged with participants from the Down Syndrome Center, Seattle Children's Hospital, Special Olympics WA., Summit Community Center, UW Haring Center, Hilltop Elementary, Gigi's Playhouse, The Arc and more.
The Huskies partnered with five additional local organizations throughout the week. A group of staff cleaned the streets in U District in partnership with Adopt a Street.
Several groups of volunteers committed their time to a trio of organizations supporting local people and families in need.

Volunteers assisted with facilities support at the Jubilee Women’s Center, including yard work, maintenance, and kitchen clean up.
