Softball Completes Sweep Of Minnesota With 6-1 Dub
April 12, 2026 | Softball
SEATTLE – The No. 19 softball team (34-9, 15-0 Big Ten) secured the series sweep of Minnesota on Sunday afternoon at Husky Softball Stadium, defeating the Gophers 6-1.
The Huskies have won 15 straight conference games, matching the fourth longest winning streak in Big Ten history. Washington clinched a spot in the Big Ten Tournament with the win tonight over Minnesota.
The Gophers made the first punch courtesy of an RBI double in the top of the first inning but that would be all from the Minnesota offense.
Morgan Reimer got her 22nd win in the circle on Sunday, throwing a complete game with just one run, nine hits, no walks and five strikeouts.
Giselle Alvarez led a Husky group that contained four multi-hit batters on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with two RBI in the series finale.
Kaycie Burdick did what she does best by getting on base early as the leadoff hitter before Alvarez hit an RBI double to the right side to bring in the first Husky run in the bottom of the first.
Alexis DeBoer produced an RBI single an inning later, bringing in Sophi Mazzola who had reached base via a bunt single.
Alvarez delivered again with an RBI single, followed by an RBI double that brought in the third UW run of the second frame.
Both teams stayed scoreless through the third and fourth innings with Washington putting up a run in both the fifth and sixth innings to extend its lead.
Melody Acevedo, who finished the game 2-for-3, notched an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.
Ava Carroll went 2-for-4 on the day, notching her second hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth via an RBI single that brought home pinch runner Tia Durst.
The Huskies take a trip down to former Pac-12 foe Oregon for a three-game series starting on Friday, April 17 in Eugene.
