Dawgs Take 11-3 Battle For Seattle In Home Opener
March 03, 2026 | Softball
The Huskies have now won six straight, all in run rule fashion, and improve to 22-0 all-time against Seattle U.
The Redhawks struck first, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.
The Huskies responded in the bottom of the frame, loading the bases and walking in the first UW run of the night.
The next Washington run came in the same fashion just an inning later, with Ally Hetzel, Ava Carroll and Melody Acevedo loading the bases and Kaycie Burdick walking in a run.
Washington came out strong in the fourth inning, bringing in four runs on four hits.

Alexis DeBoer, who finished the night with three hits, a home run and three RBI, notched her first hit in top three.
Giselle Alvarez hit a single to the right side then Hetzel was walked to load the bases. Carroll then smacked a two-RBI single to score pinch runner Jing Gardner and Alvarez.
Acevedo then notched another hit to score Hetzel, her second run of the game.
Burdick once again walked in a run when the Huskies had the bases loaded to give her squad a 5-2 lead.
SU notched an RBI double in the top of the fourth, then UW in the bottom half of the inning when Jade Bubke notched an RBI double to score Carroll.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Huskies added two more runs in the form of a sacrifice fly by Jadyn Glab and a DeBoer homer, the first home run of 2026 in Husky Softball Stadium.

Washington poured it on in the bottom of the sixth, already up 8-3, to ultimately run rule SU for the sixth straight run rule win in as many games.
Acevedo walked in a run, the third walked-in run of the game. Then Glab and DeBoer hit back-to-back singles to score two more to take the eight-run lead.
Washington opens Big Ten play at home this weekend, hosting Northwestern Feb. 6-8 at Husky Softball Stadium.
